DAVAO CITY (MindaNews/27 October) – Amina Rasul, convenor of the Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy (PCID) is the lone Philippine representative to the 1st Catholic-Muslim Forum in Rome on November 4 to 6.
The forum is a follow up to the initiative of “A Common Word” by Jordanian Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, in reaction to the speech of the Pope which drew much criticism from the Islamic world.
Rasul, editor in chief of The Moro Times, a monthly supplement of The Manila Times, said 24 Muslims and 24 Catholics and five experts on each side are to attend the forum.
”The first two days will see a series of meetings at the Pontifical Council and on the 6th there is a meeting with the Pope at the Sala del Concistoro at the Vatican, where he will say some words and our delegation will say some words. Then in the afternoon on the 6th there is a Public Session between 16.30 and 18.00 PM. It will take place at the Gregorian University’s main hall, which sits 315 people. The session will be open to the public, and will be full of invited journalists.”
“I thought this would be another venue to ask for help for the humanitarian crisis in the Mindanao. Prince Ghazi is asking what he can do to help us,” Rasul said. (MindaNews)
